Re: QL on the Raspberry Pi...?

Hi Marcel, Do the drivers behave differently when you maximize the window (i.e. have more than 1x magnification)? my usual resolution is 800x600 as I like to have QPC open when I'm writing stuff for the eMagazine. If I'm doing anything else, I usually have max selected. So, with 800x600 and 1.5 magn...

Re: QL on the Raspberry Pi...?

I'll check as soon as I can. I only get brief periods on the laptop just now. If it's not the dog, it's Alison!

Cheers,
Norm.

Re: QL on the Raspberry Pi...?

No, I'm saying that I left the old screen driver ("DirectDraw") in mainly for Wine to work. Or does the DirectX based screen driver work under Wine, too? Right then, the pup is asleep! I've sneaked off to do some testing. My Wine config is: Version: 5.00-3ubuntu1. My QPC configuration is:...

Re: Old media - could it be 3D-printed ?

I'm not a 3D printing expert, nor do I play one on TV, but I suspect that a decent printer with proper slicing/infill/whatever is settings and a good layer height and speed, probably could lay down a decent structure. Something like an Ender 3 maybe? Resin printers are probably better but the resin ...

To be honest, I have no idea! I better check. Puppy allowing of course.

Re: Unreliable microdrives

Nope. Long gone to the disc box in the sky.

Most were completely siezed up, wouldn't turn in the drive, or out of it either, almost like they'd been glued. :(

Norm.

Hi Marcel,

mk79 wrote:OK. Then good thing I left the old screen-driver in for scenarios like these, I don't think the new one works under Wine.

I'm running QPC 5.xx under Wine on Linux. Are you saying that it shouldn't be working?

Norm.

Re: Unreliable microdrives

Come on. Every tape degrades with use. You had NEVER seen mdv fail on you ? How often and how much had you used those things ? Even floppies that have been _much_ more sturdy have been known to fail from time to time. Correct. I never had a cartridge fail. I used mdv exclusively for a good few year...

Re: Unreliable microdrives

My original QL was a JM and had a faulty drive 2. I had it replaced under warranty with a JS, lucky me. That one served me well for numerous years with no mdv problems at all.

In addition, I never had any problems with my Spectrum's microdrives either.

Maybe I was lucky! :D

Norm.
