Re: Snagged an Aurora!
Price is usually subject to availability - such boards are not cheap when there is a demand (due to failures or new people wanting to revisit older designs), but £1000 is taking the proverbial - and explains perfectly why he hasn't sold it yet - he's got quite a few watchers but no bites - surely t...

Re: What is really in the header of binary files?
JM QL still allows use of Toolkit 2 extensions. TBH, a QL without Toolkit 2 is pretty useless for this sort of thing. Job2Bas_doc is a Quill doc file. PDF version attached to make life easier. Bear in mind that it has to be run in SuperBASIC (or SBASIC) on the sending machine, i.e. you need a means ...

Re: What is really in the header of binary files?
If your QL has Toolkit 2, you could use the COPY_H extension to force copying of a header. Or COPY_N to force copying without a header, e.g. if copying to a printer where any header bytes might accidentally act as control codes to put printers in random modes and spoil the listings. But if that head...

This is like watching a car mileometer pass 100,000!
Wonder who the 1,000th member will be - Simon Greenaway (member 999) just missed on it

Re: Today I Received...
In the early days we used to use a ZX microdrive as an external microdrive on the QL. I seem to recall that with the standard short cable it ended up twisted, with the cartridge slot facing away from you. Also, lots of them refused to format a cartridge when on a QL, though would read and write. Don...

As it's probably a work in development, I linked to your site instead (from my C page).

Re: Start of a Game
Nice work. Considering you're only just getting back into QL programming, this is great. It took me a while to realise that I have to press ENTER to accept the holds, rather than just press SPACE (which resets the holds looking at line 1430 if I'm right?) to roll after holds pressed. Next step could...
Re: QIMSI
I paid €65 + postage for mine (don't know if it's changed since).
Obviously in some countries you may pay import taxes etc also.

Re: Snagged an Aurora!
Qubbesoft used to sell an Aurora ROM Port to QL ROM Port adapter, which was just an 34 pin IDC cable at the Aurora connector, connecting pin 3-32 which corresponds to the QL ROM Port. Was it this one, Derek? Not sure if this was the Qubbesoft or Q-Branch variant. aurora_romport_adaptor1.jpg aurora_...
