I have a bare PCB and can take a photo later.
I still suspect the logic circuitry, since it’s random, which one is it you replaced?

Re: Minerva Mk2 Remake
Definitely I Will do this, smd, space for several ROM, and options to enable/disable toolkit II and the i2c interface, i Will put as OpenSource, but not estimated time for finish, hopefully It will be soon. @Derek_Stewart : After see the post on Facebook, I have the same idea, and already did the s...

Re: Minerva Mk2 Remake
Hi
Great idea, I would be interested. Using SMD will make a nice design, if possible include a flash with room for a couple of images controlled by a switch.

Re: Piggyback 4164 to Diagnose Memory Fault
Hi
I understand you but when you feel for it and are less frustrated cut the pins near the IC. Then apply solder flux and gently heat the pin and use a pair of pliers/Tweezers to remove pin by pin.
Anyway, well done trying to save the QL.

Re: Piggyback 4164 to Diagnose Memory Fault
Do you have more than standard memory?
Check pcb, I had similar result indicating different ICs from time to time. For me it was logic circuitry.

Re: Piggyback 4164 to Diagnose Memory Fault
Hi,
Yes pin 1.
I had a look and it is connected on top layer, I would clean it up a bit and reflow using flux.
Measure so you have connection to IC12 pin 13 ( and the others)

Re: Piggyback 4164 to Diagnose Memory Fault
Hi,
I can take a photo for you, its pin 4 right? If so it should be connected, test with multimeter if its connected to IC 10 and same pin. Could be that the tracks are on top layer.

Re: Piggyback 4164 to Diagnose Memory Fault
Hi
Send a photo of the damage, usually you can use a thin wire to make a new pad or track. Can be fiddly but worth it, if it works then secure with some epoxy.
