Re: Sprites on QL
Sprites is a bit of an unfortunate term in the QL world... Thank you for the reply. I'm specifically curious about how the sprites in this Christmas card were created: Claus-small.gif The BASIC code loads _spr files for both Santa's sleigh and the present and uses a Turbo Toolkit call of MOVE_MEMOR...

Re: What is really in the header of binary files?
If you us the QLAY emulator, when using Windows directories mapped to the win device, it creates a qlay.dir file that contains the header information. There is an accompanying tool called qlayt.exe that will allow you to take a file without the header, and then simply add a header to it by specifyin...

Sprites on QL
Quick question. On the QL Homepage there is a section under Software for Sprites. It seems that sprites are either mode 4 or 16 with some going up higher. What's the aversion to mode 8? Can you use a mode 16 sprite in mode 8?

Re: Breaking news: The QIMSI Interface
As you can see in the manual, QIMSI has only 32 KB + 12 KB ROM/RAM, so different software won't help. I can not rule out to add external SDRAM at a later time for what would be a different product. But right now, the goal is to provide affordable QL mass storage and mouse, and the hardware has been...

Anyway to have the miniQ68 be the main computer and use the QL for its I/O? Could it act like a GC with the right software? Is there any memory that comes with it?martyn_hill wrote: ↑Fri Oct 06, 2023 5:45 pm But I'm even more excited at the prospect of leveraging the embedded 'miniQ68' !!!

QL Holiday cards
So last year we had the really cool animation with Santa flying with his sleigh and dropping packages into a chimney:
The other ones I know about are the fireplace:
...and the christmas tree one:
Any other ones out there?

Re: Sinclair RF signal
So I tried an attenuator (7db) with no effect. Wondering if it needs to be more like 30db, though those aren't normal. I then added 10 ferrite toroid cores on the cable to the TV stick with no effect. Finally, I tried a 25 foot coaxial cable with the computer two rooms down on a different power circ...

Re: Sinclair RF signal
Doe's the Amiga 600 use the same kind of modulator as the Sinclair's. I was wondering if it's some kind of beat between the oscillators in the modulator and the tuner in the USB stick. I don't believe it's made by Aztec, like the Sinclair one's are. The Amiga's seem bigger (almost twice the size). ...

Sinclair RF signal
So this is a somewhat curious question. Part of my retro hobby is exploring different facets of 80's gear and I focus much of it on Sinclair stuff since that is what I grew up with (oddly in the US so I was only ever part of a tiny community, though that made it fun). I also explore these things for...
