Re: SGC successor brainstorming

I doubt if it is worth looking into DRAM at all. With memory prices in the QL size range where they are, I wouldn't even bother to think about a DRAM controller.

Re: SGC successor brainstorming

As Tofro pointed out, a new mainboard is not necessarily more work - it depends. But that would bring up the problems I mentioned, especially the different UK and non-UK QL case variants. I'd rather think the GC/SGC approach is more work and has more constraints. But your mileage may vary. I'm not ...

Re: SGC successor brainstorming

Peter, the following is just my personal opinion on GC/SGC successors: ⋅ I don't see the point of an additional processor expansion card over the SGC - That area is covered IMHO with the Tetroid re-makes (although I understand availability is limited due to limited legacy chip supply). Rep...

Re: QPC2 on Second Screen

Yes, seems to work after that hint, but highlights another very minor issue. When QPC2 comes out of being minimised after sleep, the flashing text cursor flashes much faster than normal. That I have as well, but the irritant cursor flashing doesn't seem limited to Windows 10 - It happens on Win 7 a...

Re: Possible problem with cloned SGC and Minerva 1.98

Definitely (b) and (c) for me - I don't have any working cartridges anymore, and boot directly into SMSQ/E from QL-SD. The only time my SGC has seen itself running Minerva was until the SD card/floppy/QubIDE was set up the first time.

Re: Possible problem with cloned SGC and Minerva 1.98

The following is just a wild guess: Apparently, the problem occurs with both the GC and the SGC (I hope this is verified?) - So I would assume it's not caused by the subtle differences in interrupt handling between the various 68k CPUs. Apparently, it is also not related to the patches done by GC an...

Re: Possible problem with cloned SGC and Minerva 1.98

Well, the bug doesn't necessarily need to be in the patched areas of the ROMs - It could simply be some unfortunate timing on the faster GC and SGC...

Re: Possible problem with cloned SGC and Minerva 1.98

It would probably make sense to compare the original source to a disassembly of that part after patching. No time to do that, atm, though.

Re: Possible problem with cloned SGC and Minerva 1.98

I might be wrong, but when I got my Gold Card (not Super GC) I'm almost certain that the screen address moved from the "standard" address. Is this the case on the SGC as well? You're wrong, unfortunately. The screen address of a BBQL can only be in two places (where the 8301 can actually ...

Re: First attempts to boot my Tetroid GIRL

JM is known to have problems when a Basic program uses extensions it has just loaded (in the same program). That is why you get a "Bad name" for the HISTORY command in line 550 - That toolkit command has just been loaded at line 540. You will get more of these for other extensions you LRES...
