Re: QPC2-CONFIG

You most probably checked the "Don't show this dialog on startup" item in the configuration dialog.

Pressing the shift key when starting the program will bring it back temporarily, then uncheck that item.

Re: QL Pawn

If you want to play the game on a modern platform, with all the full glory of the graphics that were unfortunately not in the QL version, it is available from Strand Games (staffed by ex Magnetic Scrolls personnel) for all major platforms in a re-mastered version for GBP 1.49. https://strandgames.it...

Re: What Editor is best to use ?

Andrew, the choice of editors depends a bit on the state of expansion your QL is in and also a lot on your personal preferences. For low-end QLs with original CPUs and occasional use, I would recommend the editor that comes with the GST Macro Assembler or other GST languages (available from Dilwyn's...

Re: Installing SMSQ/E on BBQL+gold card

Linear regulators are known to start to oscillate (read: hum) if the input voltage is becoming too low. So, the humming might be caused by a faulty power brick - Can you check whether your brick still supplies ~9Volts under load?

Re: Installing SMSQ/E on BBQL+gold card

I'm with you, Martin - The provided screenshot looks more like the dump of a directory file than that of a binary to me.

A dump of a working QPac2 (1.08) on my system looks very similar to yours.

Re: Installing SMSQ/E on BBQL+gold card

Depending on where the Qemulator copy of QPAC2 is stored, and how you are copying it. It may have a Qemulator header added to it, which would almost certainly crash SMSQ/E when you try to LRESPR it. In case the binary really has a header attached, Q-Emulator is doing something wrong. QPAC2 is not a...

Re: Installing SMSQ/E on BBQL+gold card

You can verify you really are in SMSQ/E when

PRINT VER$

returns "HBA"

Re: Installing SMSQ/E on BBQL+gold card

What exactly does "system crashes" mean? SMSQ/E does a cold boot that takes a while and might look like a "crash" to the uninitiated.

Re: Odd behavour of the DIR command?

If OPEN_DIR, inkey$... works and shows the headers correctly, that is very probably not an operating system, but rather a TK2 problem. DIR is intercepted by TK2 to extend for wildcards, while your "manual" method to read the directory is not. Other than wildcard handling (and, maybe, IO.FS...

Re: C68 Window

Note if you actually want to see the window, you need to give the system some time to draw it - Your program seems to end prematurely and the window is closed again so fast (because the job is done), that you have no chance to see something. Send the program into a long loop after opening the window...
