Re: Shielding a QL, issues and questions.
You mean this blister package crap? If it's that, I very much doubt you get enough of it plain and straight. There are certain types of office plastic binders made from PVC. Would give a perfect straight sheet of insulation. Should be cheap and easy to work with (saves you from loosing some limbs wh...

Re: Shielding a QL, issues and questions.
Hi all, Just some random thoughts and remembered bits from long-forgotten university lectures: Electro-Magnetic waves have an annoying tendency to leak through shielding like water (Basically, the waves are reflected in the inside of your shielding until they find some way out), so your copper plati...

Re: My OLD/NEW boot front end
Paul, so you already had everything you need! The main reason why you won't find much information about physical layout of screen memory is - Those guys want to educate you to write portable programs. ;) If you want to play around with QPC graphics, you might want to look at the following: The QPC_Q...

Re: Commodore 64
Well, there's definitely uQLX that comes to mind first - I have it running without any problems on a Lenovo NetBook that runs Ubuntu. And there's QPC2 - This runs under Wine on Ubuntu Linux as well, although it has problems with the keyboard map on 2 of my three computers. (But that's more likely a ...

Re: My OLD/NEW boot front end
Paul, and decided to buy QPC2 to complement my "real" QL and Daniele's Qemulator. definitively a good decision. I don't know Qemulator, but QPC2 (and QPCPrint, should you decide to go that way) are the two finest pieces of Windows software I have. But for some reasons that I still have to ...

Re: Possible New Hardware QL using the RasPi
You're probably much better off using an USB keyboard and modify that mechanically to make it fit under the QL hood. Keep in mind that connecting the original QL keyboard to the RPI would mean implementing a new Linux keyboard driver to be able to use it under uQLX/ARM (Once it comes into life) - Wh...

Re: Possible New Hardware QL using the RasPi
Do you have a good reason why you want to use the original keyboard with the RPI? Afaik, you could just as well (and with a lot less hassle) use any cheap USB keyboard.
(I don't really miss the quirks the original keys used to have)
Cheers,
tofro

Re: Possible New Hardware QL using the RasPi
Well, your approach on that is probably a bit too complicated ;) The RPI runs on ARM and will need an emulation layer anyways - If you're looking into UQLX, for example, the emulation is being fed characters from the host OS and digests those - No need to mimick exact hardware, whenit's the host OS ...

Re: Quick and Dirty Routines for Newbies
Hi, your "S" Procedure is fine for anyone not using SMSQ/E. Some other interesting thing is the following: If you work with SMSQ/E you can as well simply use "SAVE" or "SAVE_O" (Without arguments). The interpreter remembers where it got the current program from and save...
