QL in the internet!

Last time I have connected my QL with a modem was back in 1986 with the use of the Miracle Systems one.
BBS surfing was so much fun.

Now, 38 years later I managed to get my QL spirit out of my house again and into the telecom highways of internet this time.
I used a MOXA Nport 5150A (TCP to RS serial device server) and after spending some time trying and trying, I was so happy to be able to connect to tens (hundreds is possible) of today's BBS based on internet.
I played on-line games, surfed, read news, etc etc.

Soooo nice.

I send you some pictures but most important I send you a link with a how-to guide that I have prepared so you can do it also.

Guide:

Take care!!!

With QPC2, Q68, etc, you dont even need a modem or serial cable..
Any tips on good, QL-related BBSes? There are just too many other ones out there.

Hi,

All that is required is connect the QL to a Linux computer by serial ports, running TCPSER which configures the Serial port as a Hayes Modem.

Or use a WIFI modem with a QL serial lead, all works perfectly.

Hello to all!

Allow me to say that MOXA equipment are an easy to find commodity. Being extremely reliable also.
You can find an NPort 5110 (RS-232 serial device server) for about 130 euros. Ok. Not cheap. There are also some Chinese copies costing much less (as you can imagine)
At the same time NPorts can be used for other things also.
For example I was chatting with a Windows PC (QL <-> PC) via internet having the PC just connected to internet. Nothing more was required.
And more and more...

I use Retro WiFi (I bought the black version):

Here is the website:

Worked flawlessly on my BBQL (using my homegrown terminal program). Here is a video of my using it:

Hi,

I use the Sumulant WIFI Modem with the Q68, works perfectly, though needs a short cable to attach the Modem the Q68 Serial Port.

A ESP866 based board and TTL to Serial adapter can be made very inexpensively to work with the QL Serial Port.
