Buying a QL

Post by Mike »

Hi all,

I'm thinking of buying a QL. My hardware is in storage in Sweden but I'm located in Asia and wont be going to Europe anytime soon. Since i have no clue, I want to ask, what is a resonable price for a QL and where is the safest place to buy one? Any suggestions are most welcome.

I hope the question is acceptable in this forum.

Thanks in advance,
Mike

Hi Mike.
Pricing depends on condition, what's missing, what works and what doesn't, what extras you get (expansion cards, dongles, whether it's been recapped, whether it has a new keyboard membrane, whether you get / mags with it, whether it has a working PSU, leads, ables, disks, mdvs etc etc.

Pricing in UK 9without postage etc) ranges from about £50 for a parts only base macine up to £200-250 for a fully working tested functional unit. But you may still need to get storage solutions, joysticks etc.

Don't know how easy it would be for you to get the machine fixed, replace missing parts etc.

You might be better off either using a QL emulator on a PC or a Q68 if there's any still available.
