Christmas Cards 2017

Time of the year again, guys (and any gals). I thought we had quite some fun last year. It started off with some nice animated Christmas cards and ended up with a full-blown video program!

Hardly a Christmas card, but I thought Id kick off with this little "screen saver" that demos the much under-used ALPHA_BLEND facility. SMSQ/E with 8 or 16 bit colour only, though, and preferably something more than 512x256 screen real estate. That means a Qx0 or Aurora system. No hardship, however, if you dont have one of those, as anyone here with a half decent PC of some flavour has access to the free QPC2 and SMSQmulator emulators! Happy progging!

Code: Select all

10 rem Able 8, pjw, November 28th 2017
11 :
12 bsz% = 80: rem Block size
13 time% = 5: rem Time out
14 :
15 ch% = FOPEN("con_")
16 :
17 xl% = SCR_XLIM(#ch%) - bsz%
18 yl% = SCR_YLIM(#ch%) - bsz%
19 :
20 WINDOW#ch%, SCR_XLIM(#ch%), SCR_YLIM(#ch%), 0, 0
21 :
22 REPeat lp
23 x = RND(0 TO 255): ALPHA_BLEND#ch%; x
24 BLOCK#ch%; bsz%, bsz%, RND(0 TO xl%), RND(0 TO yl%), RND(0 TO 7)
25 IF CODE(INKEY$(#ch%; time%)) = 27: EXIT lp
26 END REPeat lp
27 CLOSE#ch%
28 QUIT
29 :
Should be compatible with CueDark

Memories butter no parsnips! ;) I rather hope youre all beavering away at
making the most colourful, interesting, clever, imaginative, artistic, amazing,
breath-taking, mind-blowing, or whatever, "Xmas cards". Ever!!! Whether
youre the proud sysadmin of a humble 8MHz AH ROM microdrive-eating ozone-
smelling BBQL, or the super-secret yotta-flop SMSQ/E Qray computer, hidden
somewhere in the bowls of CERN, all, Im sure, would be equally welcome. Last
year it started with Cristian's humble (humble in requirements, not skill or
imagination!) four-colour animated fire place and ended up with Marcel's
butch girlie punk band video. Maybe theres nothing left to do? Maybe we can
just pack it in and move on the Atari ST instead?

I missed last year's fun. Is there a link to the thread, I can only find this thread and Rich;
's 'all I want for Christmas' in a search.

Thanks.

Cheers,
Norm.

Ah, sorry, vanpeebles, I mis-attributed the Christmas card. I guess it all started with this topic:http://www.qlforum.co.uk/viewtopic.php? ... 709#p14916
