Site Search

By popular request (well, OK, it was Wolfgang Lenerz who asked)...

My website at http://www.dilwyn.me.uk/index.html now has a site search box.

When my site became as big as it is now, it became increasingly hard for people to find what they wanted on it, so courtesy of a free service provided by a company called SiteLevel.com, I added a search box facility which will search the site for a given keyword.

You can search the entire website, just downloads, or just documents at the moment.

It is capable of a high degree of customisation which will take time for me to get used to in order to optimise it. It also displays adverts on the search results page, a price worth paying for this facility I hope.

Between the Google Custom Search Engine searching for QL-related web page results and now this search box searching my own site, I hope it makes it easier to find things on my website.

By the way, it uses JavaScript, so this must be enabled in your browser.

Please let me know of any problems you encounter - one I already know of is the link title when it finds results in PDF files, I have no idea what is happening there!

Just tried this on your site Mr QL, works a treat and especially for difficult searches such as Tk2 and Fdk. Maybe the forum should look at their search options.

Wolfgang has kindly helped me develop a trial html version of the search box, which does not need JavaScript to be enabled. It's located further down the page at http://www.dilwyn.me.uk/index.html in a table box called Site Search.

Please can someone test (especially on different browsers) to see that both give the same results with the same options? So far, I've only tried it in Internet Exploder 11.

We did make some changes back in February, I asked for feedback and received none.
