Mobile phone companies aren't saying much about it, leading to a lot of speculation locally. They have said it needs the attention of a specialist engineer and will take several days. Favourite theory is that the transmitter (which handles more than one network locally) burned out as the result of the multiple fast on/off/on/off power cuts. Unfortunately, my phone doesn't support wi-fi calling even though my phone network says they support it. There does seem to be a culture of secrecy over whatever's happened. Wish they'd learn that in this day and age not telling people just leads to rumour and speculation. So sad to read some of the things people say on local social media, even down to conspiracy theories.
