Hi,
Just taken my PSU apart, seeing the inside.
I was curious about the condition of elyt cap, actually found two inside,
cannot read the capacity, 300... uF?
A potentiometer covered in white pigment of some sort?
Elyts visually looking good, no leaks apparent.
Cannot tell the wiring applicable to me, also pros cons of these?

Re: PSU under the hood
Those are 3300uF. I've replaced a few before just because I was 'inside' but I don't think they tend to fail that often. Is the PSU broken?tcat wrote: cannot read the capacity, 300... uF?

Ask me about felt pads - I can cut them to size and they have proved excellent for mdv data recovery.

Re: PSU under the hood
Not broken, just health inspection.
Do I have a thyristor version or the other, cannot tell?
Also is the thyristor one considered better / worse over the other?
There was a discussion long ago, about the wiring types, as there are two; that I cannot find now.
Many thanks

Re: PSU under the hood
As the components used are the same I think you'd have to follow the circuit to see what version you have. I didn't even know there were 2 different types, so if it works and the caps looks good, may as well leave it as it is.tcat wrote:Not broken, just health inspection.
