Psion Archive

Post by thorsinclair »

Hi all,

happy new year.

A trivial question for the QL enthusiast here: I'm running Archive on Q-emulator on OS X , German version with MGG Rom image, and am creating a database. I define the various text and number fields (variables) and do finish the creation. As it happens many times you notice that you did forget to add a field ...
Is it possible to add fields and variables to an existing database in Archive? How?

Thanks.

Thorsten

My memory is weak thus I may be wrong, but you might create a new database with additional fields and import the previous one

Thanks. Yes, this would be a way to get it done I guess. Will try tomorrow.

Page 31 of the English Archive Manual has a short Archive procedure that does exactly that. Don't have a German manual at hand, atm.

How about exporting the database to Abacus, add the extra field, then import back into Archive.

solved - thank you.
I tried the programme from the users manual which creates a new database with the additional fields and copies over the existing records.

I have not yet tried to export in Abacus, adding new fields and re-importing into Archive.

Step by step ...
