Text87 and other Software87 products

Perhaps you need to run the configuration program (plus4setup)...

There is no plus4setup.
However, there is something called recon. But, when EXed, it shows following:

Text87, EX flp1_recon

Is this the original Text87 or Text87Plus4 ?

I don't know exactly, there is no version number mentioned in the manual, and I had the program never running.
Probably it is original unpatched version.

As far as I know, "recon" is a program for the standard version of text87, so does not suite the higher displays or Modes. I think it is for redesigning the amount of display the program uses.

looks like you're running recon in MODE 8 - It will only run properly in MODE 4.

(and on a standard QL with 512x256)

I changed default FLP1,2_ to ram1_ (note lower case where) as I run it from RAM disk.
I changed FLP1,2_ to ram1_ also in CONFIGURE_C91 file.
This is, I believe, a mimum set of files to be present in RAM1_ for Text87 +4 to run.

plus4demo - binary
CONFIGURE_C91 - configuration file
DRIVER_P87 - default driver
Default11_F87 - default fount
FOUNTS_A87 - list of founts to load

ex ram1_plus4demo to run from RAM disk

I did not include the fount list, as you can see in the screen capture, Text87 gives me a red warning on that.

Apparently, Jochen Merz can still sell Software87 titles if anyone wants a copy!

Just came to this...

As far as I know, I have bought the last package of text87+4 from QBranch several years ago, so I wonder, why Fred Toussi act like this.

Roy told me, as this was the last licence of text87, he can't sell more. And as Fred Toussi do not seem to spend more time...what may be his Intention? There seem to be a demand for that program.

Selling five is more than nothing... Or does Jochen have a special deal with Fred Toussi?
