QL Eprom programmer
Hi QL’ers
I know that we have the QEP III, but reading a very early QL User I saw an advert about a QL Eprom programmer from a supplier Anglo Services LTD, Portsmouth. My question is, anybody who had seen or heard about it?

Re: QL Eprom programmer
It's remarkably similar to the QEP III in basic blocks - if slightly less elegant.
You have your programming voltage generator down near the 5v regulator - the switch mode ic. A 4066 analog switch to route programming voltages to pins, there is a 555 timer - perhaps for pulse generation.
a pair of 6821's for the address and data lines to the zif socket - buffered and switched through all that ttl logic.
Wonder why no one went for the 68230 device for these?

I can't recall where I got that image from - I think it was one I spotted on ebay and got the seller to send me the pic for the Wiki.tofro wrote:Here's a bit of information and a picture:

Re: QL Eprom programmer
Hi,
If I could buy or borrow a QEP, maybe more could be made by copying the circuit board.

It would be even better if the range of devices could be extended to bigger EPROM devices and also maybe GAL's ?
Re: QL Eprom programmer
I attempted to enter the QEPIII schematic into my schematic capture program. I gave up. It's been split across a few pages, and some items were entered multiple times, some nets were not referenced and just went nowhere.

Re: QL Eprom programmer
Hi,
Maybe it is better to foget about QEP as there is no schematics, PCB files, parts lists, software amybe still copyright, no software source code.
Jan Bredenbeek's Eprom Programmer, it looks to have all the functionality of QEP, details are located here:
http://qlforum.co.uk/viewtopic.php?f=3& ... =10#p17898
and the manin QL Eprommer thread:
http://qlforum.co.uk/viewtopic.php?f=2&t=2010#p17905
I did say in the 1990s, I would make one, but never got around to it. Jan sent me a hard copy schematic. Maybe this could be entered into Eagle, KiCad, Geda to make a professional PCB.
This is assuming that Jan will give permission for this development.

No problem, I can post the software on GitHub as well.Derek_Stewart wrote:Hi,

Please note that the software timings were designed for a BBQL so you cannot use a GoldCard etc. at the same time (which isn't possible anyway without a through connector). The files to be programmed will have to be loaded from MDV (not really an option these days), network using a second QL, or QL-SD device.
Jan.

Programmable voltage control by software for VCC and programming voltages could be done like this:
