Re: QL/E running on QXL2 ISA PC card
I got my QXL2 Card installed into a PC today then installed DOS/Win98 etc etc. Then setup the QXL side of things to run QL/E (thanks Urs, remarkable the work that you put in to that). It is pretty slow, and as you can see, the area around the icons still shows elements of Urs QL collection image, b...

Re: Dead Z88 - can it be resurrected?
There's actually not that much in there that can be broken - a RAM chip, a ROM chip, a CPU and the Gate array - the rest is display circuitry. Follow Pr0f's advice, that's good, especially the Reset button on the left. Rakewell should still be active and memory cards be available, just send an email...

Re: Beyond Super Gold Card
I did a quick check: DIY TK "Channels" actually uses SD.EXTOP. That's safe and means the returned values should be OK. SCR_BASE should also return the proper value on any platform that has it. The following should paint a diagonal white line across the screeen on QPC2 in 16-bit color mode ...

Re: QLiberator decompiler
It is possible to find SCR_XLIM and SCR_YLIM in SuperBASIC by trying to find the maximum Window size possible - without it stopping with an error. Fortunately, using QLiberator, such errors can be detected by using the Q_ERR_ON feature. Eg. try something like this ... REMark Finding maximum x and y...

Re: QLiberator decompiler
It is actually pretty hard (if not impossible) to detect SCR_XLIM and SCR_YLIM without the PE in plain QDOS. You can detect the length of a scan line in bytes from channel definition blocks, but I neither know a portable way to detect the color depth (i.e. translates that into actual pixels) nor the...

Re: Beyond Super Gold Card
Hi Derek, Yes, I did try using the program using Simon Goodwin's Chans_code extension to get the screenbase address, but to no avail. (I am using QPC2). The Chans_code extension will very probably not work properly on QPC2. I think it was coded without the PE in mind, which shifts channel definitio...

That's the typical "executable job's file header lost" problem. See there.vanpeebles wrote:“Just tried out your game using Qemulator with SMSQ/E, it fails
with a bad parameter at line 90? Think it's the "EXEC_W" command. Is
there any way around this ?”
Any ideas??

Re: Keyboard Interface problem
Nah. You can't use both the internal ROM sockets and the one on the interface. The main ROM socket on the keyboard interfaces replaces the QL's ROMs and is wired for address 0 - This is where Minerva needs to go. The file ABC_kbd_bin is an LRESPRable version of the ABC_kbd_rom file. You can either L...

Re: Replacements for Zx8301 / Zx 8302 / IPC
Rubber mats are a different question - although I salvaged quite a lot from the stock of equipment I acquired from Tony FIrshman some years back. Are rubber mats really breaking? Never had one fail on me as of now. I could imagine people just buy them as a side dish when they replace the membrane. ...
