Return of Y2K Bug?
I've been reading an interesting article in Computeractive magazine (issue 572) about the possible re-emergence of the Y2K bug on some older computer systems. The Y2K bug was fixed on some systems 20 years ago to treat 2-digit year dates from 00-20 as though they were from the 2000s, rather than the...

Re: Help with Composite out
Hi, I hope you have better luck with the HDMI upscaler. I could not get an upscaler to display all the QL screen. I gave up and got a refund. Now using a GBS8220 to a VGA screen, all perfect no missing columns. I have had mixed results with the scart-hdmi upscaler, which I bought at the time of the...

Re: QL/E running on QXL2 ISA PC card
What's the version of SMSQ/E you're using on the QXL? It might well be it's time to upgrade if Easyptr chokes. Tobias Pretty sure it's the latest... the one that came with Urs QL/E called SMSQEQXL.EXE I've replaced: ptr_gen wman QPTR hot_rext ...with newer versions. I get the same error at the LRES...

Re: Usborne 1980s computer books
As a starting point, have a look at David Denham's port of Tim Hartnell's Adventure Shell on my site at http://www.dilwyn.me.uk/games/adventures/index.html Provides a skeleton system for producing simple text adventures with a simple noun/verb interpreter. Nowhere near as advanced as what you are lo...

Re: Just confirming SER1 to PC COM adapter
Would it be possible for someone with more knowledge of the serial ports than I to have a look at the page and check if anything needs to be corrected or even removed? From what I can tell, the D-connector wiring looks more PC-style. Maybe I should add Urs's diagram to that serial ports page (it's c...

Re: QLiberator decompiler
The best solution would be, if someone (or Dilwyn... :D )writes a little MC extension with two keywords using IOP.FLIM, so that can be put into QLiberator and then it is compatible with every system using a PE. As SCR_XLIM/SCR_YLIM is SMSQ/E specific, it is best to have them separate. I think, the ...

Re: QLiberator decompiler
Attached is a short basic extensions file with two functions, SCRXLIM and SCRYLIM to return screen width and height respectively. Names one character different to SMSQ/E to distinguish. PRINT SCRXLIM(#channel) returns width PRINT SCRYLIM(#channel) returns height Lifted out of my display_cde files, i...
