It could also be the regulator...
My guess is that he disturbed the microdrive cables when fitting the JS ROMs - if the necessary signal is not there for mdv1_, then the QL will ignore mdv2_ !!

QL not talking to microdrives
This is rather an odd question... A customer has been experimenting with his QL - adding a Super Gold Card and trying out SMSQ/e on it . However, he then went on to try loading software from microdrive and found that they did not respond. OK - so SMSQ/e does not support microdrives (from memory), bu...

Gems in the Quanta library
I thought it would be nice to highlight any gems that people come across in the Quanta library (that are not available elsewhere)... For me... 1) Languages - There are a couple of Forth interpreters and a Prolog interpreter - not sure if these are on the Sinclair QL Homepage... 2) QDOS Information -...

Re: Chip Price Reductions
Not really worth it - if you use the HTML service manual from the QL Today DVD - you should be able to identify which chip has failed, it is generally only the one!
Alas, 8 times out of 10 it is one of the memory chips (I don't have any of these)

Re: Chip Price Reductions
These were all Tony Firshman's old stock - most of the sleeves say 'tested' but I have not tested them and have not come across any non-working ones yet! Hmm - what warranty would you want on new old stock chips - I guess it has to be 1 month only - as it could be a problem elsewhere on the QL which...

Chip Price Reductions
Having found some more QL chips in my stocks, I have reduced the prices of some of the standard QL components - see:

Any chance you could update the page on file headers on your website:

It would be useful to update this document with the information for headers went sent over serial ports

Re: Last Chance to Get QL Today Last Issue and DVD
Yes I second that - the problem with the early Quanta magazines is that the font they are written in and the poor copy quality (as they were produced on a dot matrix printer), makes it very hard to scan them. I know that John Gilpin did some sterling work on these but got to a point where his OCR pr...
