Re: New QLiberator v3.37

Hi, I rarely use QLiberated software, because it does not allow copyback cache on 68040 and 68060, totally crippling those CPUs. Or even worse, some even require serialized cache mode, which makes high end machines like the Q60 insanely slow. But some QLiberated pieces are really nice, so I'd like t...

Re: Announcing the new "Gold Card" - QIMSI Gold

Looks a bit like a 68000 (FPGA) based Raspberry Pi Zero accelerator from the ZX Spectrum next, degrading the QL electronics to a servant, sort of, right? Indeed the QL electronics would usually become servant to the accelerated CPU. For the most part, that was already true for the Miracle Gold Card...

Re: Anouncement for the 40th Anniversary of the Sinclair QL in Dormagen (Germany)

I manged to get a flight sorted to Koln, no rooms available at the venue hotel, [...] That is very surprising. From what Detlef told me, they should have plenty of rooms free that weekend. If you can still cancel the other hotel, better contact Detlef and let him check back. Fantastic that you can ...

Re: Announcing the new "Gold Card" - QIMSI Gold

Wow! Well done, the Spec looks great, what could be a better for the QL’s 40th Anniversary. Many thanks! Question: Be interesting to plug into one of my QL’s. Will you be able to include a case and when wired up for Sound can the Output be driven by both S/SuperBASIC BEEP and QSound commands. There...

Re: Announcing the new "Gold Card" - QIMSI Gold

Can other QL expansions be used with the QIMSI Gold? If you use QIMSI Gold as standard QIMSI, yes of couse, if they do not access $C000...$CFFF. If you mean from the accelerated CPU? Not directly of course, because a) there can be no external bus master on the ROM port b) they are at locations wher...

Yes it will - but from the accellerated QIMSI Gold CPU, you will not be able to access the (S)GC floppy. For that purpose, you can still use QIMSI Gold as standard QIMSI.

Re: Announcing the new "Gold Card" - QIMSI Gold

Dumb question, but would the QIMSI Gold works if the two ROM sockets inside the QL are empty ? I guess yes, but you know bettter. Good question. The idea behind QIMSI Gold is not to have to open the case. So I does not work without QL ROMs at the moment, for the following reasons: a) QIMSI Gold can...

Re: Announcing the new "Gold Card" - QIMSI Gold

Peter, you will tell us when you will release them for sale and prices. The release will be at the international QL meeting on May 17/18/19 in Dormagen. The price for the initial batch will be 75 € per unit, and 90 € with buffered realtime clock. Component prices are volatile, so pricing could chan...

Yes, the specialty is that you are doing it with a 68008, which gives it a nice retro flavour.

Re: Announcing the new "Gold Card" - QIMSI Gold

An simple internal DIN41612 to ROMport connector board might be useful  You may have noticed 2 x 2 extra pins in addition to the QL ROM port (the smaller ones near to the edge). One of them is leading QLNET and one is a "detection" pin. The other two could be used with such a connec...
