Re: 68060 based QL system?

One of the big snags of the option of improving the Q68 is if the original supporters who have already bought a unit will get upgrades, and if those upgrades will carry the same heavy mark-ups of the Q68 itself. It would be good to see a self-administerable option to upgrade a system that doesn't r...

Re: 68060 based QL system?

Good to see you all keep it friendly and light, even when I am not around! :P DMA for a proposed new design would be useful, if only for the "configure transfer and get on with core duties, I'll check when it's finished" aspect that reduces load on the CPU/OS *greatly* even if it doesn't h...

Re: Testing Tetroid backplane and GC

Additional info: my Gold Card doesn't work on the backplane with buffers, ROM 2.49. It does work on the backplane without the buffer card, but locks up about every 20-30 minutes. Before locking up, I get individual pixels of screen corruption. I can get the logic analyzer on it at the weekend when I...

Re: 68060 based QL system?

Love for ARM? I would understand that on an Archimedes forum, but not here. *strokes RiscPC with StrongARM, remembers working on it.* It would be a prime RTOS. SMSQ/E is by no means an RTOS. (And especially some SMSQ/E storage drivers are the worst case when it comes to RT requirements.) But RTOS m...

Re: QL 34th Anniversary new hardware.

Hi Juan,

I have a couple of membranes left. I'll have the rest of the items ready soonish. I'll only make them available once everything is ready.

Yes, I'll ship to Chile.

The DMV here accidentally used the Chile flag instead of the Texas flag for many years without noticing.

Re: 68060 based QL system?

I stipulate that SMSQ/E and Minerva use a couple of key quirks of the 68K instruction and register set to accomplish things that would need to be re-implemented in ARM assembly. I stipulate that the amount of work required to do a port would be extraordinary. If it were undertaken it would be a labo...

Re: CTL plug type

The BT plugs, if you ignore the pawl, are RJ45 connectors. They have the same dimensioning and use the same wire and tools (but with a little dremel-ing because of the pawl.)

So at a pinch you can break the pawl off an RJ45 and use that if no 630W are available.
