Re: RasPiQL

Hi Per, With regards to moving the RPI to SSD, a simple eeb earch should enough results, however, try this: https://www.tomshardware.com/how-to/boot-raspberry-pi-4-usb To migrate a Pi4 system working with an sd-card to solely use an SSD, I made use of the usb-boot script attached to the first post ...

Re: RasPiQL

Hi What sort of SSD do you use. I use 120GB 2.5" SSDs. I think the last one I bought was a Gigabyte one (currently £14.99 on Amazon). The Pi4 is quite picky on the SATA to USB3 adaptor chips that it supports, so I buy those cables from either Pimoroni or Pihut, to make sure they are compatible...

Re: RasPiQL

I think sQLux on a Pi4 runs at around 100 to 120 times the speed of a BBQL. However, I was disappointed when I first got a Pi4, as it felt very laggy. Then I added an SSD, instead of the SD-Card, and the difference was massive. It is now fast enough for me to happily use it as a desk top, even when ...

Re: sQLux v1.0 (The Xmas Turkey)

The good news though is if someone can work out how to enable hardware GL on Pi3/Pi0v2 then they would also make very nice platforms for QL emulation! I think the problem for the earlier Pis may be related to this: https://forums.raspberrypi.com/viewtopic.php?p=1935911&hilit=glamor#p1935911 On ...

Re: sQLux v1.0 (The Xmas Turkey)

Hi all ! May I ask if you find what I tell seems normal or (maybe I did something wrong) would it be possible to better it ? Hi polka - Would it be possible to share the Life program? We could then use it to profile the sQLux code to see where sQLux is spending its time when drawing the new generat...

I think you are right, there have been no objections, so tagging a new release seems a good idea to me :)

Re: Yet Another QL Keyboard Conversion

Part of me wonders if you could emulate the whole QL on one, but that might be a tall order (and the 256KB onboard RAM would make it difficult to emulate anything more than an unexpanded 128KB QL). There are interesting examples in the Raspberry Pi forums of people emulating the BBC micro and a Mem...

Re: sQLux Sound and Joystick support

Hi, The Joystick CTL functions, as in a QL are hardwired to the defined CTL Port. But an emulator could have user defined joystick functionality, is this possible? The joystick is effectively emulating 5 keys, so it is possible in theory, but it would require changes to the format of the ini file t...

I tried the Qbits Sounds v3 composer programme which worked really well.
Excellent! Thanks Derek :-)
