Actually, OqtaDrive + a Raspberry Pi is truly standalone. The last missing piece is controlling it from the QL/Spectrum, but for that I already have a few ideas.

Re: OqtaDrive

Who would have thought back in 1984 that by the year 2022 it would take a quad-core 1GHz processor fed by a 16Mhz microcontroller daemon to provide the same service as their humble tape driven microdrive. And all that -including reliable, high speed data transmission via radio waves & 30'000+ c...

Re: OqtaDrive

...in Spain last month 20 of us did a bunch and we are pretty happy with it. My colleagues are pretty happy, now inmerse in some projects for QL too. Great to hear! If you have any problems with OqtaDrive, don't hesitate to start a discussion or open an issue over at the OqtaDrive home at GitHub . ...

Re: OqtaDrive

OqtaDrive is not tied to any particular storage media, such as an SD card. At its core, it's a protocol converter (that's the Arduino part) that communicates with a daemon process, which then takes care of managing the cartridges. That daemon can run almost anywhere. A Raspberry Pi is just one of th...

Re: OqtaDrive

I've put an OqtaDrive inside my Issue 5 QL, using Tom Dalby's μPCB 1.0, with minor modifications. Due to the tight space, I had to shave off one corner. Note that a prerequisite for this build though is to replace the original 5V linear power regulator and its massive heat sink with a small bucket c...

Re: USB Keyboard IF

I discussed the special keys of the QL keyboard with Stephan before he set out to build this. I came up with a solution that replicates the original, using three diodes. You can see them in the breadboard picture Stephan posted at the top of this thread. I'm sure he'll draw up a schematic once he's ...

Re: USB Keyboard IF

I don't expect any problems with CTRL, ALT, and SHIFT & their combinations, because Spectratur hooks directly into the QL's keyboard matrix. Activating a switch in the MT88xx switch matrix is pretty much identical to pressing a real key. So should be fine, but Stephan will report. BTW, the Spect...

Re: Microdrive data line format

You'll find everything over at the project home, schematics and source code. Pre-built binaries for the daemon are available in the release section. You don't need a GitHub account to access this.
