Re: You know you're a QLer when...
...you try to use two keys to delete something with your PC keyboard Totally! I just installed QL2K on my work PC, just for amusement's sake... first mistake on the command line & I'm wondering why "ctrl+windows-key" isn't deleting the characters! Suddenly I feel 25 years younger (it'...

Re: The Future of the QL Wiki
I'm a bit late to this discussion (sorry) having not been around at all for a while... Having gone through something slightly similar a couple of times now, albeit just with forums rather than a whole community, I hope I can add something useful. First - who takes it on? I'd suggest, based on experi...

Re: Which video output do you use? Why?
I have 2 monitors - a VisionQL (currently gathering dust in storage), and a CUB which was specially designed for the QL (it's black....). Both via a standard RGB cable. The CUB is in remarkably good shape, barely audible whistle (although that might just be my aging ears becoming less susceptible to...

Re: Microdrive felt pads (again...)
Thanks for all the replies! Most of my own cartridges are already dumped to disk, so they'll be the last ones on the list to do. Fortunately, my disks are mostly 5 1/4", which seem (amazingly) to be more robust than the 3 1/2" variety, despite the hard plastic shell. Don't talk to me about...

Magic, thanks Dave.Dave wrote:I have a small amount of the material left.
I'm very busy in a project right now, but if you PM me in 4-5 days, I will be able to help you.
For some reason, I wrote "Microsoft felt pads".....? Talk about a brain fart!

Microdrive felt pads (again...)
Help! Does anyone have any felt pads to refresh old mdv cartridges? Almost all of my (100+) carts are still on their original pads, which means most of them don't work very well/at all any more :( Fortunately, I've only lost one to jammed tape, and that's one of the many duplicate Psion tapes. I kno...

Re: Why was the QL never successful?
True, but it's properly headache-inducing on the standard Microvitec CUB monitor.1024MAK wrote:
The Acorn BBC B computer can do it. So I do not see why the Sinclair engineers could not do it. And suitable monitors were available.

Re: Wanted: AH QL Motherboard
Hi Rich, It was a 2-ROM set, I can't remember the release no, I will dig that out tomorrow, if I can remember where I hid it. IIRC it had a D09 serial number, in case that helps. Symptoms are random changing patterns on the screen, random fizzes and bleeps from the speaker, random microdrive accesse...

Re: Hello from the Sunny Wirral
Hi Rich, MicroPeripherals rings a bell alright. It looked the part IIRC, with a nicely moulded end cap which matched the QL style. I never did update it, but TK2 included an "flp_use" command, so I added that to my boot disk, flp_use flp, which fixed the fdk issue (then, of course, I had t...

Does anyone have an unmolested AH board that still works? It will have at least one (maybe 2) flying leads, a couple of cut traces, and I believe an inline resistor on one of the wires. My AH board has these, but the wire has become detached at one end and I've no idea where it goes (into one of the...
